Lustron
PBS

After WWII, inventor Carl Strandlund had an idea to mass produce steel houses on an automated assembly line. By 1949, Strandlund had built the factory and the houses were rolling out of the factory into neighborhoods across America. By 1953, Lustron was closed.

This is a story of one man’s dream to mass produce high quality affordable housing and the government conspiracy that shut him down.
